A Spark Rediscovered

Dear Salon Nayan Team,

Thank you for the unexpected gift you gave me last week. I walked into your salon on a whim, chasing a trim, but I left with something so much bigger.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Saroja's smile hit me like sunshine, and that glass of water felt like a small kindness I didn't know I needed.

Thank you for listening. I babbled about my balcony plants, and Joseph nodded like it mattered. He even suggested a soft color for my hair, which I hadn't considered until then.

Thank you for the connection. Another stylist jumped in, mentioning his aunt's garden. It was a tiny moment, but it made me feel less alone.

Thank you for the peace. Your salon hummed with soft chatter and snipping scissors. For once, I could just sit and breathe.

Thank you for lifting the weight. Life's been quiet since Joseph passed five years ago. The kids are grown, the house empty. I've been tending plants and volunteering, but I was fading. You brought me back.Thank you for the mirror moment.

After the cut, I saw myself again, not just a shadow. I felt lighter, brighter, alive.Your salon isn't just a place for haircuts. It's a little haven of care. I'm already looking forward to coming back.

With gratitude,

A woman finding her spark

Warmth Beyond the Ambience

"There is definitely a deep sense of comfort and familiarity coming to your salon. It's not in the ambience but the warmth of the staff that wins your heart, and James, your collection of songs!

I trust my hair with Indra, who is absolutely non-judgemental of my balding head. Shangeri (I hope I've spelt her name right) takes care of my skin and nails, and Mythili steps in so seamlessly when needed.

Of course, the efforts taken to keep a tidy place without being too fanciful makes a huge difference.

Thank you all for helping us, your clients, feel and look better. Hope you continue this quiet, consistent service."

A Moment to Breathe

Hi,

I wasn't planning to write this, but after that afternoon in your salon, I felt like I owed it to you, and maybe even to myself. When I walked in last week, I didn't look like someone falling apart. But inside, I was on the edge.

That morning had started like most of mine do. Packing lunchboxes while replying to emails on my phone. Trying not to forget the dentist appointment, the school presentation, and my mother's refill for her medication.

My youngest had a meltdown because I packed the "wrong" water bottle, and my husband, bless him, asked me where the socks were again. It wasn't even 8.30 a.m. yet.

By the time I dropped everyone off and sat alone in the car, I realised I hadn't eaten. I couldn't remember the last proper conversation I had with a friend. And worse, I couldn't remember the last time I wasn't needed by someone. I felt like I was disappearing into all the roles I play.

That's when I drove to your salon. I hadn't booked. I just showed up.When your team asked what I wanted, I couldn't even answer properly. I said "just a blow-dry," but what I meant was help me feel like myself again.

And you did.

You didn't push me to talk. You offered me tea, played soft music, and gave me that rare, precious thing, an hour where no one expected anything from me.

I know it was just hair. But it wasn't just hair. It was the gentle hands, the calm energy, the unspoken understanding that I didn't need to be "on" for anyone in that moment.

When I looked in the mirror after, I didn't see a new woman. I saw myself again. And that meant everything.

Later that evening, my husband actually noticed. "You look lighter," he said. He was right. It wasn't the blow-dry. It was the break. The exhale.

The small reminder that I'm allowed to take up space too.And one of the young men on your team said something quietly to me as I was leaving. He said, "I understand a little bit more about my wife and mother now." That stayed with me.

So thank you for more than the service. Thank you for creating a space where women can fall apart a little, breathe a lot, and leave feeling like they belong to themselves again.

With love,

A tired but grateful mum
